The program of seminars for the build up in Opua to this years Cruising Season has been released.

The seminars are open to all comers  and are free.

Opua Cruisers Festival

There are four seminars planned at Opua for the build up to the
boats leaving NZ this year for the Pacific.

First up Medical

Tuesday 15th April at the Opua Cruising Club, 4PM to 6PM Dr. Hoffer and the Paihia Pharmacist – Medical & Prescriptions.
Prescriptions will be available the following week.

If you need to upgrade your medicines or are wanting extra prescriptions for any of the common drugs, Antihistamine, Antibiotics, Mala drone for Malaria or Malaria prophylactics, this is the seminar for you. Plus Dr Hoffer will give you an in depth of “how too” for scrapes, cuts, bites and a host of tropical maladies.

Chart Marking and Customs Clearance.

Tuesday 22nd April at the Opua Cruising Club, 4PM to 6PM Customs Req’s and Chart marking for the Pacific Islands

In the chart marking we go through Customs clearance and paperwork for all the SW Pacific countries plus a basic chart marking of where to get what and some of the best anchorages and routes through the island groups.

Thursday 24th April at the Opua Cruising Club, 4PM to 6PM Understanding Pacific Weather

What to expect this year and a brief rundown of understanding the
weather in the SW Pacific.

Passage Planning

Tuesday 29th April at the Opua Cruising Club, 4PM to 6PM Passage Planning to and around the SW Pacific with a weather update.

A look first up at the anticipated passage from NZ to the tropics. Then a look at the passages across the SW Pacific and why everyone starts in Tonga.
